Data Protection

At Transform Trust, we take data protection and your rights as an individual very seriously.

At Transform, we have worked hard to ensure the appropriate policies and procedures are in place across our schools to ensure that we are compliant; that we collect and process data responsibly; and that we store and dispose of information in accordance with the law.

We live in a data-driven world. Almost every transaction and interaction you have with most organisations involves you sharing personal data, such as your name, address and birth date. You share data online too, every time you visit a website, search for or buy something, use social media or send an email. Sharing data helps makes life easier, more convenient and connected. But your data is your data. It belongs to you so it’s important your data is used only in ways you would reasonably expect, and that it stays safe. Data protection law makes sure everyone’s data is used properly and legally”, ICO website, May 2018.

Changes in the law is the result of work by the European Union (EU) to bring data protection legislation into line with new, previously unforeseen ways in which data is used. The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect from Friday 25 May 2018.

The GDPR forms part of the data protection regime in the UK, together with the new Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018). More information on data protection can be found by visiting the Information Commissioner’s Office at www.ico.org.uk.

The ICO is the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. For more information on the ICO go to: www.ico.org.uk.
