Consultation for Academisation

Consultation Period for Academisation

Following a meeting and vote by the Governing Body of Ashbrook Junior School, it has been decided to begin the formal process of consultation with parents and our wider community to consider the opportunity of conversion of our school into an Academy with Transform Trust.  An Academy is a publicly-funded all-ability local school which is independent from the Local Authority control.  In other Academies this has proved to be beneficial to the children and the school in terms of funding streams, access to training and best practice for staff.  Transform Trust is a Derby and Nottingham based Multi Academy Trust, who also run a Teaching School with whom we have been partnering over the last year.  To find out more about Transform Trust, please visit

The formal consultation period with parents, carers, and the wider community runs from Thursday 23 May 2019 until Wednesday 10 July 2019. An information meeting was held in school on Monday 10 June 2019 to which all parents and members of our local community were invited to express their views and raise any questions or concerns. If you have any further questions, comments, thoughts or opinions that you would like to express, please forward these for the attention of the Governing Body to

Following the consultation period, the Governing Body will consider all comments and opinions expressed during the consultation period and will then make a recommendation to Derbyshire County Council and the Secretary of State as appropriate.

We have attached below the presentations given at the information meeting by both Mrs Johnstone and also by Transform Trust.  Various questions were asked by members of the parent community who were present at the meeting and these are also shown below.
