What are your expectations for my child’s engagement and the support that we as parents and carers should provide at home?

During lockdown, all children are entitled to four hours of remote learning.  We expect each child to complete the work set for by the teachers but recognise that the hours that you work may make this difficult.  It may be that your child works more hours one day and less the next – as long as the work is completed this is fine.

If your child is able to access Google Classroom, we are able to provide regular feedback and support through this which can make it easier for you to support from home.  If not, we will collect in your child’s paper-based learning every fortnight and you can contact us for support via Class Dojo or on the phone. As much as possible, we try to send activities with support so that the children can be as independent as possible but we do recognise that you may need to support them from time to time and to prompt them to get going.  We will provide suggested timetables to help structure the week for the children.

Assemblies are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and links to these are sent on Class Dojo so that all children are able to access these.   Every week, your child’s class teacher will hold a zoom meeting as part of PSHE and you will also have the opportunity to ask questions.  Again, the invites to these will be sent via Class Dojo so that all children can join in.  These meetings are also an opportunity for your child to see their friends (both in school and at home) and to engage with the class teacher.

If you are at all concerned about your child or his/her ability to access the work, please contact us as we are able to offer additional support, prompts and activities.
